We have a 37-hectare (92-acre) farm of castor beans dedicated to the local Brazilian castor bean market. We grow two varieties of castor beans: energia, a classic local variety, which is artisanally harvested.

We partnered with a consortium: Cooperfasc (Cooperativa dos Agricultores Familiares da Região Centro Paulista); UNESP-Botucatu; and Azevedo Óleos – to plant 25 hectares (62 acres) of a hybrid variety which was developed by UNESP-Botucatu researchers that lends itself to machine harvesting.
